Kitchen Trends for 2018

2018 trend guide…

It’s that time of year again when we take the time to reflect on another year gone by, followed by the exciting prospect of a new one ahead. For many this is the perfect time for a fresh start or an exciting change. Whether that’s a new haircut, finally booking your dream holiday or having the kitchen makeover you have always wanted.

The new year brings new kitchen trends and colour trends, and whilst some kitchen design trends have maintained their position from the previous year, there are always exciting new ones to discover.

It seems Quartz worktops, Smart technology and clever storage are still popular kitchen requirements, and here some of our favourite kitchen trends for 2018;

Colour Trends

Choosing the colour for your kitchen is a huge part of the overall design aesthetic. 2017 was the year of minimal; with whites, greys and monochrome. It seems there are mixed views on the ‘all white’ kitchen in 2018, and colour is back in bold tones and subtle pastels. Black is tipped to be one of the top statement shades for 2018 whether that’s on the wall, appliances, accessories or cabinets, whilst on the softer side of the palette we have sage green, violet and peach. These sophisticated colours perfectly compliment a range of mixed materials such as concrete, wood and metallics.

If you do have an all-white kitchen, why not mix things up by painting some of your existing cabinets to create two-tone cabinets.

Mixed Material Kitchens

Gold accents combined with organic materials or a rustic wood finish compliment each other beautifully. Whilst this combination creates a warm, neutral environment, concrete or stone combined with mixed metals and metallics creates a much edgier design. According to Houzz, concrete is set to be one of the biggest trends this year across all aspects of the home. Copper was hugely popular in 2017, however in 2018 we are also seeing brass, patina finish and heavy metals to create a more industrial look.

Leafy plants and botanicals are also a popular way to add some colour and nature to your kitchen, in addition to utilising clever lighting as a design feature, illuminating certain areas of your kitchen.
